Operations

Operations comprises Finance, Human Resources, Information Technology, Legal and Compliance. These teams are responsible for the administration of best practice processes across our global initiatives to ensure Minderoo Foundation runs as efficiently and effectively as possible. Without these important powerhouses, the Minderoo Foundation change-machine would shudder to a halt.

Governance, Structure and Charitable Registration

The Minderoo Foundation Pty Ltd as trustee for the Minderoo Foundation Trust (ABN 24 819 440 618) is the legal entity which operates what we refer to as the Minderoo Foundation. This entity is specifically listed by name in the Income Tax Assessment Act 1997 as a Deductable Gift Recipient (DGR), is endorsed as an Income Tax Exempt Charity and entitled to GST concessions.

The Minderoo Foundation Trust is governed by a Trust Deed and registered with the Australian Charities and Not-for-Profits Commission. 

The Minderoo Foundation Trust is registered under applicable fundraising legislation as required in each state where it raises funds and has been issued the following licence numbers:

  • New South Wales – Licence number: CFN/23873
  • South Australia – Licence number: CCP2430
  • Tasmania – Licence number: C/10254
  • Western Australia – Licence number: CC 21871

The Minderoo Foundation is managed at all levels of the organisation under the guidance of an executive team. The board of directors of The Minderoo Foundation Pty Ltd are responsible for corporate governance and accountability and comprises seven directors (two of whom have nominated alternate directors) as listed below:

Empowering women

Minderoo Foundation is committed to increasing female employment in our workforce. Four members of our nine-person Board of Directors are women. Of the senior leadership group responsible for the Foundation’s operations, five out of eight positions are held by females. A staggering 71 per cent of all Minderoo Foundation employees were female as at 30 June 2018.

Minderoo Foundation is focused on creating a positive working environment, with an emphasis on retention and professional growth. Given the challenges associated with retaining key female talent, Minderoo Foundation is committed to facilitating flexible working locations and hours, staggered return to work programs following parental leave and broad professional development opportunities.

Minderoo Foundation is committed to respecting and upholding the human rights of every employee and also those working within our supply chain.

Minderoo Foundation adopts a partnership-based approach with suppliers to support, train and have ongoing, honest conversations about the risks within their own operations and supply chains.

Minderoo Foundation doesn’t have a “zero tolerance” for identifying risks or cases of slavery, we instead have a “zero tolerance” for inaction should our partners identify risks and vulnerabilities within their supply chain.
