OVERVIEW
Australians face one the highest rates of skin cancer in the world, with around two in three diagnosed during their lifetime and around 2,000 people dying each year.
Minderoo Foundation is a proud partner in the $152.4 million Paula Fox Melanoma and Cancer Centre at The Alfred in Melbourne, which from 2024 will see specialists and multi-disciplinary teams work together under one roof to improve care and outcomes for skin cancer and melanoma patients.
As part of a $10 million investment, we are establishing the Minderoo Centre for Advanced Diagnostics and Telehealth, a purpose-built facility that will develop and apply new technology and artificial intelligence to accelerate research and improve how skin cancer and melanoma is screened, diagnosed and treated across Australia.
We are also establishing a world-leading wellness and education centre within the St Kilda Road building to support patients and their families along their journey and provide them with complementary knowledge and, most importantly, the holistic support they need.
The centre is supported by the state and federal governments, Alfred Health, the Alfred Foundation, the Fox Family Foundation, Minderoo Foundation, Monash University and other generous supporters.
It is named after the philanthropist Paula Fox, whose personal commitment to melanoma research and treatment has helped to make this vision a reality.
