We are joining with Team Rubicon Australia (TRA) to respond with direct relief to some of the worst affected areas in Victoria, New South Wales, and South Australia. We are now seeking specialised volunteers to assist in recovery efforts.

TRA was established in the US in 2010 and brought to Australia in 2016. TRA boasts a 2,000 strong, highly skilled veteran volunteer force that assists communities to recover after disasters strike.

TRA comprises military veterans, emergency responders and motivated volunteers, all of whom are encouraged to register their interest to volunteer.

Fire Fund has supported TRA to scale its operations across fire-affected areas. Volunteer arrangements are being managed directly by TRA. If you can step up and join the effort, please register via the link below.

COVID-19 and suspension of deployments

Following recent announcements by the Federal Government aimed at reducing the spread of COVID-19, Minderoo Foundation Fire Fund and Team Rubicon Australia have temporarily suspended the deployment of volunteers to fire-affected areas.

Whilst we understand this news may come as a disappointment, it is the right decision and one that is fully supported by Minderoo Foundation Fire Fund and the communities we are supporting.

By minimising travel and social contact in accordance with expert advice targeted at reducing the spread of COVID-19, we will avoid introducing COVID-19 into disaster-affected communities that are already vulnerable.

It is vital that you, our amazing army of volunteers, know that this suspension is only temporary and that our resolve to help our mates in need has never been stronger.

Our job is not done. We will return. Deployments will recommence as soon as it is safe to do.

For more information on the suspension of volunteer deployments, please visit www.teamrubiconaus.org.

If you want to go far, walk together.’”
