Minderoo Foundation has pledged AU$70 million to Fire Fund for response, recovery and resilience.

Fire Fund have allocated AU$10 million to mobilise specialist volunteers, AU$10 million in immediate bushfire relief funding and AU$50 million to support the development of a long-term blueprint for fire resilience.

First and foremost, we understand that communities know best what they need. We have learnt this from our involvement in several disaster responses, including the devastating 2009 Black Saturday Victorian bushfires, the 2011 Queensland floods and the 2016 Western Australian fires.

Fire Fund is on the ground and listening to what affected areas require.

We are mobilising volunteers to assist in recovery efforts in Victoria, NSW and South Australia. We have allocated AU$10 million to the Recovery phase and are encouraging others to donate, both locally and abroad, to at least match Minderoo Foundation’s commitments.

Fire Fund is also investing in its Wildfire and Disaster Resilience Program to build long term resilience by convening leading experts to develop a globally relevant national blueprint for fire and disaster resilience.

We are seeking donations from the public both locally and internationally, to bolster these efforts to rebuild fire ravaged communities and sustain them in the future. Fire Fund welcomes any donation, big or small, and is meeting all expenses associated with the management of the funds and the distribution of donations.
