We understand that communities know best what they need. We have learned this from our involvement in several disaster responses, including the devastating 2009 Black Saturday Victorian bushfires, the 2011 Queensland floods and the 2016 Western Australian fires.
Minderoo Foundation has pledged AU$70 million to help rebuild communities, revitalise local economies and develop a long-term globally relevant blueprint for wildfire and disaster resilience.
Of this, AU$10 million has been allocated to mobilising specialist volunteers, AU$10 million to immediate bushfire relief funding and AU$50 million to support the development of a long-term blueprint for wildfire and disaster resilience.
We are collaborating with Team Rubicon Australia (TRA) to respond with direct relief to some of the worst affected areas in Victoria, New South Wales, and South Australia.
Minderoo Foundation is also investing in a wildfire and disaster resilience program. It aims to develop a globally relevant blueprint for fire and disaster resilience. It will accelerate innovation and lead to the development of new approaches to mitigate wildfires and other disasters.
We are seeking donations from the public both locally and internationally, to bolster all of the Fire Fund efforts. We welcome any donation, big or small, and will not charge any administration fees.
